We would like to invite You all to teams league.
COMPOSITIONS OF LEAGUE TEAMS. The League shall be
bracketed into divisions by a random draw of not less than 6 nor
more than 10 teams per division. Altough teams with GOLD STAR
members shall be seated teams and divided evenly among the top
divisions. The number of brackets will depend on the number of
teams who enroll. Each team in a division shall play each other
team in that division once. Teams may consist of 4 to 10. In
future events old teams will be sorted into the brackets based on
their past year performance.
LINEUP CHANGES. No player shall be a member of or play on
more than one team without expressed consent of GAMING OFFICIAL
DIRECTOR or GOD for short.
LENGTH OF EVENT: Each team will be 9 weeks in which to
play all of its matches. It is anticipated that the minimum speed
of play will be at least one match per week, although you could
play three matches in single day if that fiits your schedule. The
League competition shall take place within the period of FILL IN
PLAYOFF. At the end of the SEASON, a knockout playoff will
be held to determine the overall winner of each level. If there
are only two divisions at the same level, then the top two teams
from each division will advance. If there are three divisions, the
two highest scoring teams get a first round bye and the other four
teams participate in a knockout match. If four or more divisions
exist, only the top teams advance to the knockouts.
In the event of a tie for a playoff or flight qualifying position,
the tiebreakers (in order) are: A) wins/loses in head-to-head
competition during the current season B) total IMPs in
head-to-head competition during the current season. C) coin flip
LENGTH OF MATCHES: Matches will be of 24 boards played in
two halves or 12 board each with no undo's, scored separately,
with compulsory change of opponents after 12 boards (same EW Pair
can not play against same NS pair). The two 12 board matches
shall be scored in IMPs and converted to Victory Points, which
will calculated from the IMP score by GOD using the table found at
CAPTAIN'S RESPONSIBILITIES: These include (a) arranging as
early as practical with the other Captains the date and starting
time of all matches; (b) agreement prior to start of play upon the
minutes of lateness, if any; (c) perform all official team
communication with GOD, including reporting of scores (in VP and
IMPs) providing movies of the match, appeals, claims of forfeit,
requests for modification of team membership or captaincy, and
proper advance notice of all matches-dates and official starting
LINEUP PROCEDURES: The Captain of the seeded team (lower
number on the list) will have the choice of opposing pairs for the
first half. The team which is behind at the end of the first half
will have the choice of opposing pairs for the second match. Note
a four man team must rotate pair as same pairs are not allowed to
play against each other. Except for emergencies or impossible
connection, no change of players will be permitted during the
12-board half. If a non-playing team member is kibitizing a 12
board session, he will not be allowed to substitute for any team
member who becomes disconnect from BBO gaming site.
TARDINESS: Arriving late to a match is a discourtesy to
your teammates and opponents. The section below describes the
penalties for lateness. These penalties may be appealed to the
coordinator but are not subject to discussion by the participants.
Such discussion can only further delay the match and cause
increased penalties. The only appropriate discussion of tardiness
is that the team captains should agree on the time that each team
was prepared to begin play.
DEFINITION OF STARTING TIME: The starting time of a match
is defined as either the scheduled starting time or the time at
which four members of one team are ready to begin play, whichever
LATENESS PENALTIES: A penalty of three IMPs per each five
minutes or fraction thereof after the first ten minutes of
lateness with a max of 18 IMPs will be assessed against the
late-arriving team. A team may appeal to the coordinator that the
penalty be reduced because of extenuating conditions.
FORFEITURE: If a team is over 60 minutes late, the
opposing Captain may request a win by forfeit. An attempt shall be
made to reschedule the matches in which case the offending team
will be assessed an 18 IMP late penalty for the match.
SLOW PLAY: A match is expected to be played at the rate of
7 1/2 minutes per board or faster, or one hour and 30 minutes per
12 boards. Complaints of slow play may be made to the director
during the match or to GOD in writing when reporting the scores.
No hand shall be started 4 hours after the official start time for
the match without specific agreement by both captains (or acting
captains should the captain not be available) that the match shall
SUBSTITUTES: Substitutes can be used to fill out a table
to allow play. A substitute may not be a member of another team in
the same league. If a substitute plays twice for one team, he
becomes a member of that team and can no longer substitute on
FORFEITS: The intent of GOD to hold matches, and every
effort will be made to have a match played rather than declared a
forfeit. GOD expects full cooperation from all teams in
accomplishment of this aim.
DISOLUTION OF A TEAM. On the event a team is scatched from a
division during play, or withdraw during a match, the
non-offending team shall be credited with a win and, at the end of
the season, be credited with a VP score for the forfeiture being
the highest of (a) the average VPs scored by the non-offending
side (b) the average VPs conceded by the offending side and (c) 22
VPs. Generally, when a side requests a fixture to be postponed
owing to very bad weather or for mutual convenience, a new fixture
date shall be arranged. The fact that a side is unable to raise
its strongest team for a fixture would not justify a postponement
and if it is not possible to complete a match by the end of the
season rule 8 shall apply.
Play and procedure shall be governed by the latest (1997) edition
of the -Laws of Duplicate Bridge- and such penalties as are laid
down in these Laws shall be exacted. The home club shall provide a
Director for each fixture. The Director may be a team member. Any
complaint as to the decisions or conduct of a Director shall be
made to the Secretary.
GOD shall keep accurate records of the result and post them on
CONVENTIONS: Best might be anything goes, so no arguments
over what is being played). However, all conventions not on
PREAPPROVED LIST must be pre-alerted and defenses provided in
writing to GOD for posting on WEBPAGE. Special carding agreements
and treatments must be pre-alerted (UDCA. O/E. etc).
CONVENTION CARDS ARE OBLIGATORY, and are to be filled out
completely. If you believe your opponents have not made a good
faith effort to completely fill out their convention card, save it
and forward it to GOD. If after GOD reviews the convention card,
he may request the players involved to elaborate more fully.
Failure to do results in expulsion of the offending pair.
DIVISION CHANGES: At the end of each season, the top two
teams in each division (other than Division One) shall be promoted
and the bottom two teams in each division (other than the lowest
division) shall be demoted one division. Further teams may be
promoted and/or demoted at the discretion of GOD to ensure that
the divisions for the following season shall contain an equal
number of teams. If at the end of the season two or more teams are
tied (in terms of VPs) for top or bottom place in any division,
the tie shall be split first by considering the aggregate VPs
scored by each team in its matches against the other team(s)
involved in the tie and, if that does not split the tie, then by
considering the total IMPs scored by each team in all its matches
in that season.
RULES OF CONDUCT: The normal Bridge Base Online rules of
conduct applies through out the event.
